Best of Show/Alexander City April 2014
“A New Where to Go” by Langley Tolbert won Best of Show and also First Place in Mixed Media.
“A New Where to Go” by Dadeville artist Langley Tolbert was named this year’s Best of Show winner at the annual juried art competition sponsored by the Alexander City (Alabama) Education Foundation. The painting also placed first in the Mixed Media category. Another Tolbert painting, “Mixed Messages,” received Honorable Mention in the same category.
“Mixed Messages”, also by Tolbert, won Honorable Mention.
“Every award is exciting, but this particular Best of Show recognition is especially gratifying,” said Tolbert. “It was sponsored by the Alabama Art Colony, an annual artist workshop that has done a great deal for me over the years to enrich my creative spirit and broaden my artistic skills.”
A week-long artist retreat that attracts seasoned painters from throughout the southeast, the Alabama Art Colony is held each year on the Children’s Harbor campus at Lake Martin near Alexander City. Another painting by Tolbert is part of the Art Colony’s Permanent Collection.
